Assignmet 3 : THE HISTORY OF DAENDELS ROAD

Herman Willem Daendels came to Indonesia when 1806 – 1807, the defence of the Netherland colony territory became difficult. This caused by the attack of British combat fleet on several lacces, such as : Cape of Good Hope (the beginning of 1806); Batavia and Surabaya (the end of 1807). After receiving a report about the fall of Cape of Good Hope, Louis Napoleon Bonaparte as King of the Netherlands summoned Daendels and gave appointed him Governor General of Java. This appointment was based on the policy that Java was a very strategic island, not only economically but also politically. Louis Napoleon Bonaparte as King of the Netherlands appointed  Daendels as Governor General in Java in his letter dated January 27, 1807. Daendels received two important tasks : to defend Java from the attack of British combat fleet and to make a clean goverment in the East India Colony. That two tasks of Daendels in 3 set of instructions, as follow : one set of instructions for the Governor General (37 articles), one set for the position of Governor General and The India Council (25 articles), and a third set of of instructions for the dissolution and the foration of the India Council (6 articles).

Daendels power era on the island of Java which is only three years (1808-1811) was one dark spot of this nation's history. Pramoedya Ananta Tur, in his novel Jalan Raya Pos, Jalan Daendels, perpetuating the bitter times. With bitterness he wrote, "Indonesia is a land of slaves. Among slaves and slave nation for other nations ". History records, more than 12,000 people died from forced labor to build this road.But who would presume, behind her dark past history, Daendels actually laid the foundation for the development of urban and spatial relationships between cities in Java since the early nineteenth century until now.

Assignment 2 : HISTORY OF THE NAME OF JAKARTA

History of the name of Jakarta. In 6^th century there was exist the city named Kalapa. This city had a kingdom of hindu named Sunda. Its capital was Padjadjaran. At that time, this city was powered by Portuguese and were attacked by the youngster named Fatahilah. Since that time, exactly on july 20^th, 1527 this city was changed become Jayakarta from its origin name, Sunda Kalapa.  

In 20^th century, the name of Jayakarta was changed to be Batavia. At that time, there was happened the Dutch colonization. And the city was captured by the Japanese in 1942-1945, Batavia changed its name to Jakarta. On August 17^th, 1945 indonesia became independent and make Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia. Sukarno as Indonesia's President at the time with flying red and white flag in Jakarta. The name Jakarta Officially recognized Indonesia's sovereignty in 1949. In 1966 the official name of Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia.

Assignment 1 : HISTORY OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF CATFISH STATUE BECOME JAM GADANG STATUE

Statue of Catfish and lutes pieces fruit was built in 1995. It lasted for 7 years and was demolished in 2002. The statue was built by an order of the Regent - Moch. Djamhari. According to him it is attached to the town of Bekasi, as catfish and lutes pieces fruits are the best commodity at that time in Bekasi. However, in 2002 the local society has another meaning, the statue was judged inappropriate to community icon because Catfish is a voracious fish-eaters and it was cheap, so did the fruits of lutes which is cheap. Eventually, people do protest to the Governor and the Mayor of Tambun, when the Big ceremony after April 24^th, 2002 at the sports stadium of the former, and in 2002 the statue was officially removed.

The village chief of Sri Jaya, Tambun, Mr. Damin Sada along with several people membered on the set of Himpunan Putra Putri Patriot Bekasi (Hipprasi) or Badan Kekeluargaan Masyarakat (BKM) Bekasi Baghasasi, came to that location and set it on fire. Despite being grilled catfish & the lutes pieces fruit burn it has a memories and stories for children in Bekasi. The search process of the icon of Bekasi is still debated. For a while at that location founded jam gadang with larger advertising space as additional income so as not to look blank.
